Flying Moose in Utah

Print Friendly, PDF & Email
Yesterday moose were seen flying overhead in Utah and they appeared to be headed in the direction of Colorado. Actually, this is true! In a wildlife exchange program between Utah and Colorado, moose were captured in Utah and flown to Grand Mesa, Colorado. There the animals were inspected by veterinarians, loaded onto trailers and transported to their final destination somewhere in Colorado.

Colorado is trying to build up a moose population and Utah says they have extra. In turn, Utah needs some bighorn sheep and Colorado has extra.

All went well from reports out of that state but that is not always the case. Capturing and relocating wild animals is extremely stressful on an animal and often times results in death.
