Lawinger Gets Two Years in Prison

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

In what might be the culmination of a lengthy story about a Wisconsin guide named Adam Lawinger, he was sentenced to two years in prison. He must also pay back the state of Wisconsin for all the illegal game he took, totaling $73,534. He has been banned from hunting, fishing or guiding for three years during his supervised release from prison and is banned from possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.

Lawinger owned and operated Blue River Outfitters, where he guided many illegal hunts without proper licensing, poaching and an entire list of other offenses. He pled guilty in December to two charges and has resulted in charges brought agains 46 other hunters in 11 different states. The Wisconsin DNR says this was the largest haul of illegal trophy mounts, weapons and related equipment in their history.

I did previous stories on this sting operation that you can find here, here and here. One story even lists a minister and county sheriff out of Florida who participated in Lawinger’s hunts.
