Eighteen Charged in Pennsylvania Deer Ring

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Eighteen people in Pennsylvania, including two minors, have been charged with illegal hunting of deer and protected birds. Authorities say what began as an investigation into what was going on at a deer processing business, grew to a much larger operation that has taken five years to investigate and make charges.

Undercover officers infiltrated a family befriending the members in order to get information that led to the charges. At the center of all this is 40-year ol Matthew R. Baker who owns the meat processing business in Huntingdon County.

Baker had been found guilty on previous charges of eight counts of illegal possession of deer and paid fines of $6,400. These charges are unrelated to the bigger investigation.
