Kids Can't Hunt Deer in Pennsylvania

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

At the April 18 meeting of the Pennsylvania Game Commission, they will decide whether to include deer as game allowed to be hunted by kids as part of the new mentor program. Those who fought for the program say the basis was all about deer hunting and getting the kids excited about the state’s most popular game animal. Authorities fear the kids will shoot too many deer and they have no way of knowing how many they will take.

I guess one excuse is as good as another. How about looking at other states that allow hunting deer with kids under age 12? In Ohio, kids accounted for less than 3% of the total deer kill and in New Hampshire, less than 2%.
