Elk Notifications Are in the Mail in South Dakota

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

If you were a lucky winner of the South Dakota elk hunt permit drawing, you will soon be receiving a small box in the mail. Approximately 1,550 hunters will be notified by mail that they have been selected to participate in this year’s hunt. They will have until June 21 to respond and pay the appropriate fee.

Last year the Department of Game, Fish and Parks mailed out certified letters to each of over 2,400 permit winners at a cost of nearly $5.00 a letter ($12,000+). Officials discovered that sending a letter in a small box was less expensive.

Check your mailboxes and make sure you don’t miss the deadline to pay your fee and get your permit.
