Will Pennsylvania See Big Increase in Hunting License Fees?

Members of several hunting organizations from around Pennsylvania testified before members of the House Game and Fisheries Committee. The majority of those who testified claimed that hunters in Pennsylvania supported fee increases including one proposal that bumps the increase from $19.00 a year to $34.00 a year.

Representative Ed Staback (D) Archibald, representing the northeastern part of the state countered that all hunters he has talked with are opposed to such an increase and they are unhappy with the deer management practices of the Game Commission.

The debate will continue and should the Legislature take any action on fee increases, it wouldn’t take affect until at least 2007.
