Kentucky Elk Hunt Application Deadline Nears

July 31, 2006 marks the deadline for hunters interested in a chance at a random draw elk tag. This year Kentucky officials are doubling the number of tags to 200. You can get your application, costing $10.00 to apply, wherever licenses are sold, by calling (877)-598-2401 or online here.

In 1997, Kentucky began an elk restoration program. Today the herd is the largest east of the Mississippi and is estimated at about 5,700.
