Bull Elk Entangled In Rope And Tire Freed

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Canoeists spotted a bull elk near the Sinnemahoning Creek in Elk County, Pennsylvania on Monday morning. The elk was tangled up in a water-filled tire and rope, apparently from a rope swing.

When authorities arrived on the scene, a conservation officers shot the animal with a tranquilizer gun. The elk went into the creek but the weight of the tire dragged the elk’s head under water nearly drowning it. Resuers had to go into the creek and hold the elk’s head above water while others untangled the rope and tire freeing the elk.

When the effects of the tranquilzer wore off, the elk walked off into the woods.

A job well done.
