Most Michigan hunters by now have heard that the 19-member advisory commission has recommended to the Department of Natural Resources Commission that rates for fees charged to licensees be raised considerably. This is not setting well with many people.
Now is your opportunity to have something to say about it.
Northern Michigan residents can submit their opinions and concerns on proposed hunting and fishing license fee increases at a Wednesday, Dec. 20, hearing with state lawmakers in St. Ignace, hosted by Rep. Howard Walker, R-Traverse City.
The Michigan House Appropriations Subcommittee on the Department of Natural Resources will meet 6:30-8 p.m. at the LaSalle High School, 443 W. Portage in St. Ignace. Walker, chair of the subcommittee, called a similar hearing on Dec. 6 in Lansing.
Don’t be one to sit back and complain. Whether you are for the increase or against it, this will probably be the only opportunity you will have to speak up. If you can’t attend the meeting, call Rep. Walker’s office and leave your comments with them. 1-800-REP-1046
