In Pennsylvania, Hunting Won't End When The Sun Goes Down

The board of the Pennsylvania Game Commission made more recommendations yesterday. All recommendations need final approval by being voted on at the April meeting.

A more popular issue is the one concerning what time of day hunting will cease. Currently it stops at sunset but a new proposal by the PGC will extend that time to one-half hour after sunset for many species including deer.

Another issue that likely will also find approval is to allow juniors in the mentor program to hunt antlered deer. Staff had suggested they needed more time to work out some issues but due to the large number of protests from supporters, it appears that deer hunting will happen for mentored youth in 2007.
