*Update* May 2, 2012, 10:00am – Since I posted Milt’s photograph of what he believed to be a fox, there have been a couple comments but I received an email from a reader and trapper from Maine about foxes. He provide some comparison photographs and a comment of his own.
First the comment: “Here’s a few pics of tanned fox hides and a tanned fox colored coyote to the left. Ears are shriveled up from the tanning, but all the fox have black on the back sides and edges. The white throats on the fox hides show a narrow patch of white, but notice the gray underfur behind the white.
Still, I think the pic is a fox, but wouldn’t bet any money on it. I’ve gotten quite close to a couple big fox in my own traps, then noticed they were coyote.”
