In this video, President Obama questions whether the “emotions” everybody had after the Newtown, Connecticut shooting were still present. This tells a serious story if you really want to listen. Emotions are a powerful thing. Emotions often overpower rational thought and leads people to do and say things that, under normal circumstances, they would not do or say. The President is suggesting here that we should be voting on laws that are driven by emotion. It is much for that reason this bill was defeated.
When politicians, who are most famous for exploiting the emotions of the people for political gain, allow the emotions of the moment to drive the desire to destroy the rights of people, nothing ever good comes from it.
