The President’s Unfinished Promise: The Federal Government Still Lacks a Meaningful Scientific Integrity Policy

*Editor’s Note* – This is comical in a way and a great example of smoke and mirrors propped up in front of an unsuspecting population.

Some people are frustrated with fraudulent science. Laughable, however, is that the frustration is often times rooted in one’s ideological perspective of what they want things to be. Understand that this affliction is not restricted to one false political ideology over another.

In the examples spoken of below, “scientists,” and others, were happy to hear from Barack Obama’s mouth that he was going to “restore science to it’s rightful place” saying that no longer would science take a back seat to ideology. Right! The problem that exists is that the entire world operates within a snow-globe of ideology. Ignorance strangles us rendering us incapable of independent thought and the desire to find truth in answers. Therefore, whatever the issue indoctrinated into is, we can only perceive it as being right and all else is wrong.

There’s too much money to be made promoting political ideology masked as science. Once again we see the mistake, nay, insanity, our world is afflicted with. We believe, we want to believe, the words of man. Man lies. Man is deceptive. Man makes bitter promises. Man has no truth.

In this case, some wanted to believe Obama’s words when he said he would put science back in it’s rightful place. Our desire as True Believers, failing to learn from history, and we cannot see that Obama’s “truth” was, yet again, a lie. In his mind, like the minds of some many others, science’s “rightful place” was that cesspool of corruption and deceit that will yield the greatest of political favors, payoffs, and immense power and control.

It’s easy to say that the next administration needs to do a better job and get it right, but they never will. It is not their intention to get science and the scientific process right. It is their intention to continue their criminal activities that will best line their pockets. To think otherwise is insanity.

It has been common for scientists, including me, to criticize previous federal administrations for condoning scientific misconduct when it comes to denying climate change or ignoring environmental concerns. So when, in April 2009, President Obama told the National Academy of Sciences “ we are restoring science to its rightful place“, and “ the days of science taking a back seat to ideology are over,” the scientists in the audience, including me, gave him a standing ovation. The president then instructed his science advisor Dr. John Holdren, Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), to issue uniform guidelines for a strong federal scientific integrity policy within three months. But nearly seven years later, there is still no meaningful federal scientific integrity policy, and parts of the Obama administration have continued to misuse science to support ideology. The next administration can, and should, do better.

It took OSTP more than 18 months to issue feeble guidelines that gave individual federal agencies complete discretion to develop their own policies. How effective are those individual policies? The answer is that the policies vary from strong to very weak.

The problem as I see it is this society has fallen into the trap of selective reading. Thus turning out automatons that are what they read rather than critical thinkers with suspicious minds. Especially those members of this society indoctrinated with a political/scientific/and even Biblical philosophy. This selective reading habit applies to everything around us, science, history, politics, philosophies, and even Biblical research. We’re surrounded by the unread who for some strange reason dislike the well read..

Hell you can’t even have a discussion with the unread. For some reason at a young age I was blessed, maybe I should say cursed with an insatiable literary appetite. It can be difficult, quite boring, even uninteresting. Yet one must mentally override those weaknesses and work through them and thus become a wandering reader of the various books of history including Biblical that have stood the test of time. Same as a wandering traveler seeking hidden canyons one might have over looked for years in wild places one has frequented over the years. The financial aspect of this type of seeking can be a stumbling block.. As well as the time it takes to find books one never imagined exist and are available through due diligence in seeking and finding them.

We can intellectually create our own open mindedness which has been suppressed by our parents and teachers, and those narrow minded professors of academia posing as professional critics who shut down open mindedness and literary charity. All books have good true information and experience in them, and false political and even scientific persuasion. More often than not we see “critics” pointing out the flaws in written literature while making no comment on the truths within that same literature.

This is because they are biased and only interested in suppression of any truth that stands the test of of time against their “truths.” What selective readers actually read is often as puzzling what they really think. I can remember growing up in a family that was republican and democrat, left versus right. At a young age, about ten years old I knew for certain they were all certifiably insane.

People need to understand that no university, no public school, no private school can provide a real education, all they can do is provide an outline of how to be a seeker of experiences and personal lessons. To learn, they taught us to learn. Unfortunately the majority of this society stop learning when they come out of those programs essentially unfinished. To be educationally finished is something we attempt for ourselves and we never finish because we die.

Now does the educational systems I’ve mentioned offer breadth of view, ease of understanding, and tolerance for others and a background from which the mind can explore in any direction? Not in my opinion. Looking around I see the opposite of that taking place. Closed minds, suppression, intolerance, those that have not been taught to intellectually and intelligently live life well are envious of those who do know and practice those traits. Thus the destruction of the self reliant thinkers amongst us.

There is little self awareness, and less understanding of what is taking place all around us in this worlds physical, mental, and intellectual environment. Folks should consider, any education depends upon the quality of the teacher.. A teacher cannot have a closed mind. If the teachers you know do, they’re not teachers. They are damned fools.. If you want to be a damned fool then stick by them.
