Biggest, Best Hunter & Outdoor Christmas Expo Quickly Approaching

MISSOULA, Mont.—The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation’s 2017 Hunter & Outdoor Christmas Exposition promises to be its largest and best show to date. It runs in conjunction with the 10-day National Finals Rodeo and will take place Dec. 7-16 in the South Halls of the Las Vegas Convention Center, upstairs from Cowboy Christmas.

“Far and away, this is one of our favorite events we look forward to every year,” said Steve Decker, RMEF vice president of Marketing. “We are excited to join partners, supporters, outdoorsmen and women, and so many other people who support RMEF’s conservation mission and our shared outdoor way of life.”

The combined Cowboy Christmas and Hunter & Outdoor Christmas Expo event covers more than 900,000 square feet and features the best of western lifestyle, firearms, optics, outfitters and guides, hunting apparel and all things hunting and outdoors.

2017 Hunting & Outdoor Christmas Expo highlights:

2016 RMEF Hunter & Outdoor Christmas Expo Attracts Record Crowds

MISSOULA, Mont.—The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation’s Hunter & Outdoor Christmas Expo, in partnership with the Cowboy Christmas expo, set an all-time combined attendance record of 231,517 at the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC). The new figure is 6.6 percent higher than the 2015 attendance total of 216,292.

The Dec. 1-10 event took place at the LVCC’s South Halls in conjunction with the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (NFR).

“We are grateful for all the people who attended this year’s expo,” said Steve Decker, RMEF vice president of Marketing. “We especially appreciate our expo sponsors, exhibitors and our partners at Las Vegas Events. Without them our expo simply does not exist, let alone experience the success we enjoyed this year.”

The 2016 expo included a number of new features such as the MTN Ops Shootout-Ultimate Archery Experience, the inaugural Junior NFR at the Wrangler Rodeo Arena, and country music performances and daily wild game cooking demonstrations on the Realtree Live Stage.

Hunting, outdoor industry leaders and other exhibitors featured firearms, archery equipment, optics, outfitter and guide services, hunting apparel and western lifestyle gear and clothing.

“This year’s attendance reflects the energy that can only be found in Las Vegas in early December,” said Pat Christenson, president of Las Vegas Events. “Our partnership with RMEF has been beneficial and provided even more opportunities for rodeo fans to enjoy the NFR experience.”

RMEF Unveils Hunter Christmas Exposition Seminar, Autograph Session Schedules

MISSOULA, Mont.-Hunting and outdoor experts, rodeo legends, country music artists and a touch of creative cooking with your favorite cuts of meat highlight the seminar and autograph schedules at the Hunter Christmas Exposition, presented by Cabela’s. The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation’s inaugural expo will take place Dec. 4-7 at the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC).

“We believe we have assembled a lineup that offers a little bit of something for everyone-especially the elk hunter,” said Steve Decker, RMEF vice president of Marketing. “Attendees will be able to learn how to more effectively hunt on public land, pack their horses, choose an outfitter and find, call and bow hunt elk, all while rubbing shoulders with some of the best elk hunters from across the country.”

Seminar presentations will take place at the Elk Country Theater in the LVCC and will be presented by Cabela’s. Headliners include RMEF World Elk Calling Champion Corey Jacobsen, Randy Newberg of Fresh Tracks with Randy Newberg, Mark Kayser, Lee & Tiffany Lakosky of Crush, Wayne Carlton, Pat & Nicole Reeve of Driven, Kristy Titus of RMEF Team Elk and four different tasty presentations from the Cook with Cabela’s team.

The Hunter Christmas celebrity autograph sessions will take place at the RMEF Membership Booth. Rodeo legends scheduled to appear include 7-time World Champion Dan Mortensen (saddle bronc & all-around), 5-time World Champion Lewis Feild (all-around & bareback riding), 4-time World Champion Ote Berry (steer wrestling), World Champion J.C. Trujillo (bareback), World Champion Loyd Ketchum (bullfighter) and World Champion Cody Custer (bull riding). Hunters include the Lakoskys, the Reeves, Newberg, Titus and RMEF Team Elk Host Brandon Bates. Also appearing are country music artists Easton Corbin, Josh Thompson, Chuck Wicks, Mark Wills, and Daryle Singletary.

The Hunter Christmas Exposition will take place alongside the established Cowboy Christmas Gift Show and Cowboy FanFest Show at the LVCC. Hunter Christmas will be in the Central Halls while the Cowboy Christmas and Cowboy FanFest will be in the adjacent North Halls.

Hunter Christmas will be presented by Cabela’s and feature industry leaders like Browning, Buck Knives, Leupold, Nosler, Remington, Federal Premium, Polaris RANGER and many others. It will bring the best in firearms, optics, outfitters, archery, and hunting apparel, and all things hunting and outdoors to tens of thousands of outdoor enthusiasts. Additionally, Hunter Christmas will feature a full archery range conducted by PSE, the NASCAR Experience from Nationwide Insurance, the Gun Genie from Gallery of Guns allowing firearm purchases from the show floor and special television coverage by RFD-TV.

Western Maine Fly Fishing Expo on March 22 to Benefit Wounded Warriors

Anglers anxiously awaiting the snow melt, ice out and the opening of fishing season , can learn the latest fishing techniques and visit with guides, sporting camps and a variety of angling exhibitors at the Western Maine Fly Fishing Expo to be held Saturday, March 22 at the Bethel Inn Conference Center in Bethel Maine. This year all proceeds from an auction of items including guided trips, sporting camp vacations and fly fishing gear will go toward the construction of the Veterans Casting Platform at Songo Locks on Sebago Lake to benefit our wounded servicemen and women. The Expo runs from 9:00 am to 4 pm and is sponsored by The Mollyockett Chapter of Trout Unlimited. Admission is $5 for adults and free for youth 15 and under.

Exhibitors include Maine and New Hampshire outfitters and guide services, sporting camps, wildlife artists and authors, The Maine Dept of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, Casting for Recovery, equipment manufacturers and retailers. Attendees can learn the art of fly tying, rod building and wildlife photography. There will be seminars on getting started in fly fishing, and travel to destination fisheries. and fly tying contests in different age and ability categories. Sponsors and exhibiting vendors are giving away dozens of door prizes every hour.

The Fly Fishing Film Tour, a nationwide movie tour featuring segments from the best fishing films of the year will cap off the day. The two and a half hour movie, “North of Wild” will be shown at 7 pm at The Bethel Inn Conference Center. Tickets are $8 when purchased in advance at the Bethel Inn 207-824-3694 or $12 at the door. The film was produced by Carter Davidson of Gray Ghost Productions. Carter is a Bethel native who grew up fishing in the western Maine region and has hand crafted his own wooden drift boat.

I guess in stead of hiring an anti gun outfit to put on an outdoor and sporting show, the largest anywhere, the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex & Expo Center has hired the NRA to put on the show next February, 2014.

The Expo runs from 9:00 am to 4 pm and is sponsored by The Mollyockett Chapter of Trout Unlimited and the Upper Andro Anglers Alliance. Admission is $5 for adults and free for youth 15 and under.

Attendees can learn the art of fly tying, rod building and wildlife photography. There will be seminars on getting started in fly fishing, and fishing the Rangeley Lakes Region and Labrador. And if the groundhog was right and there’s an early spring, the Upper Andro is open to fishing year round.”
