Maine Representative and House Chair of the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee, Bob Duchesne, in an opinion piece in the Bangor Daily News said the following:
“For instance, when good stewardship requires limits on the number of game animals that may be taken — such as moose and antlerless deer — there is always legislation submitted to give priority to certain hunters, such as youth, seniors, landowners, veterans and the disabled. While the principle behind the idea is worthy, the more permits that are set aside for special groups, the fewer remain for everybody else.” (Emboldening added)
