Rotten, Filthy Social Media Expanding Its Cancerous Grip

Mainstream Media has muddled along for centuries calmly and without much real opposition to their canned lies and misinformation, until lately, all designed to manipulate public opinion and thought. While the overwhelming majority of Americans will mouth that Media cannot be trusted and that they lie, they obviously do not believe that because, like an addict, they run to them and put on their feed bags. They just can’t help it.

I’ve been at this blogging stuff for many years. When I first began, Mainstream Media, went out of their way to discredit anyone who offered anything that they didn’t control. Evidently, some, anyway, saw Alternative Media as a threat. They fought against it and then joined the circus attempting to take it over and control it.

Certainly, Alternative Media has had an influence on mass media and in particular newsprint. News websites are still trying to find ways to force readers to pay for their misinformation and lies. In short, they are struggling and it will only get worse with each passing generation.

Then Social Media happened. A well-planned and design-specific tool that would cause immediate, widespread and long-lasting societal destruction. In no time at all, millions became addicted. They found a place where they could be anything they wanted to be. They could hate, send a message, laugh, hate some more, be rude, be filthy, be disgusting, threaten people, wish them dead, you name it. It’s all bad and I mean ALL BAD!

That addiction soon put my efforts as an independent writer/blogger in jeopardy. Because the designers of Social Media knew that the programmed automatons couldn’t stay focused longer than 141 characters, well researched, precisely written and honest journalism was doomed…or at least well-controlled.

Whether you and I hate or are head over heels addicted to Social Media matters very little. It is what drives Americans today and there’s little any of us can do about it. I would suppose, to be nice, I should congratulate the designers of Social Media that they could come up with something so compellingly enslaving while at the same time grabbing control over and striking a crushing blow to truth, integrity, and common decency.

It appears that Social Media is having its effects on writers for Mainstream Media outlets. Here’s one example.

In Maine, a Warden Service plane, while attempting to land on a frozen lake in Northern Maine, went through the ice. A reporter for the Bangor Daily News reported on the event.

Yesterday another Bangor News reporter followed up the event with a piece of his own. In his report, it seems that his entire article is driven by his displeasure with Social Media and the comments made about how stupid it was that a government plane would disregard their own advice and attempt to land a plane on ice some deemed unsafe. He writes: “Before any details were made public on Wednesday, social media outlets were buzzing with opinions from those bold enough — or rude enough — to spew their opinions…” Throughout the article, the author refers to those participants in Social Media as, “armchair quarterbacks,” “finger-pointers who are yucking it up,” and “Joe Ice Fisher.”

Because the article was actually more about how and why outdoor recreationists should consider that even Wardens can make mistakes and that we should be absolutely certain it’s safe before venturing onto any ice to have some fun, it did not need to nasty with truthful comments directed at Social Media.

I’m not even going to pretend to preach about how journalists need to present themselves better and different than mere Social Mediaites because maybe they are not capable of rising above it. I’ll save that discussion for another time.

Regardless of your own perspective of Social Media, which I’m guessing is much like that of Mainstream Media – you say one thing and do another – it has its power, as is seen here. It, at its least, influences what columnists are writing. The sad part is, if you can see it, Social Media is worse than the most radical of malignant tumors. It is a reflection of what has become of a society that relies on pleasures and satisfaction rather than on the truth and decency of their Creator God. As it grows bigger, it becomes more powerful and eventually chokes off the life all around it until one day the entire body is choked off and dies.

Sad!

Bogeyman Servitude in the Name of Security

I read a statement this morning that came via an email, of an opinion piece written by John W. Whitehead, September 15, 2014 and published online at The Rutherford Institute. The line I enjoyed the most stated:

“The bogeyman’s names and faces change over time—Osama bin Laden, Saddam Hussein and now ISIS—but the end result remains the same: our unquestioning acquiescence to anything the government wants to do in exchange for the phantom promise of safety and security.”

Shhhhhhhh! I Think a Bear is About to Kill Me

As funny as this video may appear, there is actually SOME pretty good advice in there that MIGHT save your life. Bear attacks on humans are a very serious event and should never be presented in the media, as is ALWAYS done, as a rare occurrence. It matters not whether an attack is rare or not. If it happens to you, the last thing you are concerned about is whether it is rare or not.

The woman in this video and the producers of it deserve a degree of congratulations to have the intestinal fortitude to attempt a demonstration of what you might want to do should you retain the wherewithal to employ the tactics when you about to have your ass handed to you by an angry, attacking bear.

Random Thoughts and Comments

I haven’t done one of these for awhile, but as I was driving back across town yesterday, all these little questions and observations were banging around in my head – much like a BB in a boxcar….if you can imagine.

It’s been a few hours since that time but let me see if I can remember at least some of my “random thoughts and comments.”

How Did We Ever Survive?

Maybe some of you readers are old enough to remember when cars were made with the dimmer switch on the floor board and you used your foot to switch your lights from low to high beam. Some brilliant “inventor” must have decided one day that the human being wasn’t capable of running three pedals AND a dimmer switch with two feet, so they moved it up to the steering column. Note: Three pedals would consist of accelerator, brake and clutch and some older cars had a starter pedal located usually to the right of the accelerator.

Two feet, back then operated 4 items, while the two hands had control over the steering, a horn, a directional turning signal (depending on the age of the car or truck), shifting lever for the transmission, perhaps a radio, windshield wipers, heater controls and hopefully there were not a lot of other “extracurricular” activities taking place up front or in the back.

So, the super intelligent person moved the damned dimmer switch up to the steering column and today two feet control one gas pedal and one brake (most all cars are automatic transmissions now.) With two feet, having little to do really, the two hands are overtaxed and by God it’s nothing short of a miracle that more people aren’t injured or killed each day.

Two hands take care of the steering wheel, the horn, the automatic transmission shift, the directional indicator light switch, the cruise control, the window wipers and washers, the radio, the heat, the AC, the CD player, the DVD player, all the windows and door locks, seat heaters, GPS, computer (for some), and let’s toss in a dog sitting on one’s lap as well, and by God let’s not leave out that wonderful piece of machinery that has done more to destroy the American society than anything so far in history – the almighty cellphone. Ah, yes. The cellphone.

When you watch people drive while on the highway or driving through city traffic, seldom is there a driver not driving with a cellphone, seemingly permanently attached to an ear. One hand on the steering wheel and the other on the phone while all them other devices get overlooked……including the three or more rear view mirrors.

Not only is the driver severely distracted by the cellphone, but it completely ties up the use of one hand; a hand that is needed to properly control the all important function of operating a deadly instrument.

The cellphone has taken over life in America and certain other places worldwide. Watch people as they go about their day to day. All are consumed by the device. It has turned us into non thinking idiots who have no interpersonal communication skills outside of a cellphone and texting on the cellphone. The world is passing us by.

And just when you think you’ve seen it all, on the weekend I was leaving home. Across the street from where I live, there is a small farm that raises a few beef critters, alpacas, hens and roosters (and they sell eggs). In addition they board horses. As I passed the access area to the pasture and small hovel where the horses hang out, I noticed a young woman in her riding gear and perched atop a horse that was walking in large circles. The rider was busy texting on her cellphone.

Is That the Reason?

Is it a mere coincidence that since John Kerry and Chuck Hagel took over as Sec. of State and Sec. of Defense respectively, things have heated up in Syria, North Korea is threatening to nuke the world, Israel is more determined than ever to blow up Iran, Iran is more determined than ever to wipe Israel off the face of the earth and on and on it goes?

Those Damned Executive Orders

I’ve been reading a bit lately that some believe that there exists, at least one or more person’s interpretation of law, the provision for the president to sign a treaty and then use his executive powers to enact such a treaty even if the U.S. Senate fails to ratify the treaty.

Now, how important are those executive orders presidents have been using for decades?

The Constitution says all treaties become the supreme law of the land. It also says that those treaties must be ratified by the Senate. So much for following the Constitution.

Where’s the Beef?

If Philadelphia doctor Kermit Gosnell had used a gun to murder all those new-born babies, would there have been a different response from the media?

Change of Priorities

Many cities and states across the U.S. are banking on increased “tourism” due to the legalization of same sex marriages and mind altering drugs. Think about that for a minute.
