Police Ask Citizens to Help Supply Ammo

It first began when we started hearing that police departments around the country were having shortages of ammunition. Now we are reading stories, like this one at CNS News, stating that one police department in Proctor, Minnesota, pleaded with citizens to “loan” them their ammunition.

So, seriously. Where’s all the ammunition?

According to Jim Shepherd at Outdoor Wire, it’s the gun and ammunition manufacturing industry with the problem, even going so far as to claim there is no conspiracy or plot to disarm people.

What I’ve heard loud and clear in my conversations with retailers and range owners is that they’re certainly talking to each other – and listening to disgruntled customers. And their talk isn’t pleasant when the subject is manufacturers or industry groups. Historically, it seems there’s always been a divide between manufacturers and retailers, but this divide looks wide enough to have some of them looking at joining forces and taking their message to consumers.

If that happens, I’ve been told, they’re going to look -skeptically- at every industry group to see who’s stepping up to explain the facts of product shortages to consumers. And they want companies to go to their distributors and tell them there are smaller businesses- who makeup a large portion of the industry- suffering because they insist on supplying big box retailers first, and that’s not acceptable.

They want manufacturers to actually tell their distributors a portion of their product inventories must be allocated to smaller retailers. And they don’t want to hear excuses why that’s not practical. “It’s not right,” said one Oklahoma dealer, “for me to have empty shelves and loyal customers when big box stores have product and don’t care about customers or fellow retailers.”

Hmmmmm! Is this true? If it is then there must be some kind of conspiracy here. From my own personal experience, prior to late in 2007, I could go just about anywhere in the United States – big city or small town, big box retailer or small gun shop owner – and buy just about any amount of ammunition that I wanted. So what’s changed?

If Shepherd’s information is accurate, then Obama’s anti gun identification tag had nothing to do with this shortage, or Big Sis’s hoarding of certain caliber ammo. Instead, a conspiracy (it must. What else would you call it?) exists with the manufacturers of ammunition to run the little gun shops out of business and refuse to supply police departments, or something along those lines.

Is this to drive the price of ammunition through the roof in order to gouge the consumer for big profits? Are manufacturers taking advantage of the anti gun rhetoric coming out of Washington and through some anti rights groups, and deliberately creating shortages.

I’ll go back to my original comment and question. In late 2007 (you figure out the significance of the date.) I could buy ammo anywhere, anytime. What’s changed since then? There has to be either a real shortage of ammunition, brought on mostly by hoarding and panic buying or there’s a shortage brought on by the ammunition manufacturing industry because of whatever their financial and/or political goals are.

If the problem lies with the ammo industry, then police departments should be able to buy their ammunition through big box retailers…..shouldn’t they? Have they tried? Or is there a shortage AND the industry is only supplying big retailers? Is there a conspiracy to disarm the police departments? Is this disarming of police departments in instill more fear and panic in Americans?

What’s changed? Are there so many new gun owners since 2007 that it would cause an ammo shortage and a gun shortage? Have more people bought more ammunition than at any other time in history? Have manufacturing plants stopped producing as much ammo as they used to? If ammo is only being sold to big box outfits, then I should be able to get all the ammo I want through them. Is that possible?

Here’s one thing that seems to be a certainty. I happen to know of at least two states that have seen a windfall of over $1 million each in Pittman-Robertson excise tax money from the Federal Government. This excise tax is collected on the sale of certain outdoor sporting goods. A $1 million windfall tax for one small state, like Maine, tells us somebody has been buying up an awful lot of sporting goods. Has that increase been in everything except guns and ammunition? Has the increase been universally distributed throughout all the outdoor sporting equipment sales? Or has the increase come as a result of the increased sales of guns and ammunition. What I’ve been hearing is that it has all come from the sale of guns and ammunition and all since 2007.

So, what’s changed and where does the problem exist? You tell me.

Day 83 – No Executive Orders

MISREPRESENTATION!

83 days and nothing has been posted on the White House website about 23 executive orders on gun rights/gun control. But not to fear. I’m sure the President was deep in thought and planning during his rounds of golf over the past two weekends.

Big Sis Lies Again – Puts Border Patrol at Risk

Is it not enough that Big Sis lies to lawmakers and Americans and tells them she’s saving money by purchasing ammunition for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in bulk? Here’s the latest from Janet Napolitano. In an email sent from DHS to the Border Patrol, DHS tells agents Big Sis has a shortage of ammo and therefore cannot use extra ammunition for proficiency training.

Enforcement Personnel,

Due to budget concerns and ammunition availability, we will not be getting issued any proficiency ammunition for next quarter. In addition to these reductions, we are also being limited to qualification ammo only. What this means to you is that you will not receive the normal 150 rounds for practice and we will not have any extra ammunition for a combat course following normal qualifications.

If you have the ammunition available and would like extra practice during your qualification day, the firearms instructors will have a training course available for Indio Station Personnel, keeping in mind basic marksmanship skills as well as tactical training with a limited amount of ammunition. You are not required to bring your own ammunition.

If you do not have extra ammo to bring, you will be given extra time to clean and maintain your issued handgun as well as station long arms.

If you have any questions about this quarters (sic) quals please feel free to send me your concerns.

There are some estimates that calculate DHS has purchased in excess of 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition in the past few months; enough ammo to carry out a 40-year war by some estimates.

Is this a scare tactic or more accurately, putting in harms way border patrol agents as a means of playing politics with sequestration? Or perhaps Big Sis is withholding all that ammo for something planned that only the Obama Administration knows about. She has 2,700 plus tanks too.

For an administration that promised to be the most transparent in history, when they consistently and persistently take the time for dog and pony shows, like the fake signing of executive orders and addictive lying, why should there exist an ounce of trust between the American people and this corrupt administration?

Long Lines to Buy Ammo

At a gun show over the weekend in Kalifornia, lines formed for hours of people waiting just to buy ammunition. In Texas, like much of the U.S., ammunition is difficult to purchase anywhere. It is even effecting law enforcement training and qualification.

And gun and ammo manufacturers say they are making ammo as fast as they possibly can.

Who’s The Best Gun Rights Supporters?

According to the Wall Street Journal, all the hoopla about making access and ownership to guns more restrictive, states proposing and passing bills to ease restrictions on guns far outweigh anti gun legislation. But most wouldn’t know that because the biased media works very hard to ensure that we don’t get any truth – only a perpetuation of anti gun hatred. Thank you WSJ for revealing this information.

John McCain Dumb as a Fox

My advice to readers is to pay little attention to what the media wants you to hear or read that Sen. John McCain says. It is seldom the truth or at least the truth with any real outward meaning. According to a report from The Hill, McCain says he doesn’t understand the threats coming from within his own party to filibuster the Senate anti gun bill.

“What are we afraid of? Why would we not want… if this issue is as important as all of us think it is, why not take it to one of the world’s greatest deliberative bodies – that’s one of the greatest exaggerations in history by the way – but you know why not take it up, an amendment and debate. The American people will profit from it,”

McCain may be a master at saying what the people want to hear in order to appear as though he was looking out for their best interest, while doing everything he can to fulfill his own mission. Examine the words he chooses – “world’s greatest deliberative bodies” (meaning both the House and Senate); “What are we afraid of?”; “The American people will profit from it.”

Some form of an anti rights gun bill will come out of the Senate but it is quite certain to fail in the House and McCain knows that. McCain fears for any power he may lose through filibuster powers and the fact that it appears his outdated crony republican party is on the way out. This must be troubling, not only to him, but for the Council of Foreign Relations, among other entities, that might be fearing the loss of McCain’s power and influence. He needs all the help he can get and will resort to saying things that mean little concerning issues but has everything to do with retaining his power.

Real or Imagined, America Has Changed

wake-up-americaI recall several years ago, Oldsmobile, a product of General Motors, attempted to remake the image of Oldsmobile. For decades Oldsmobile assumed the identity of being an automobile designed and manufactured for “old people”, real or imagined. Prior to the halting of production of Oldsmobile cars, the company took on an advertising campaign in which they plastered the advertising world with the logo: This is not your father’s Oldsmobile. Needless to say, the ad campaign failed and Oldsmobile could not be marketed to the general automobile-buying public and thus contributed to the failure of the building of any more of the cars.

America, for decades, assumed an identity of being a country designed for everyone. It became the greatest nation on earth, a land of freedom “of” and not freedom “from”. Rights were respected and efforts of all were geared toward making the country better and stronger with more opportunities from everyone, not the hate mongering, divisive, corrupt element that overwhelms this nation; one that treads on rights.

Real or imagined America is not your fathers’ country. This advertising campaign has worked. For some the change is real and with that reality comes a vision of an appalling disfigurement, a country unappealing, repugnant and oppressive. For those who don’t see it that way, perhaps you are the ones who have actively sought to make this country what it has become and you like it. If you think the America of today is the same or better than the America of my father, you are part of the problem.

Are you seeing it? Are your eyes open? Still in denial? Don’t want to see what is real, the results of your labor?

I had to go out this morning. While I was out, I decided to stop at several stores in the area and check on the availability of ammunition. There is none and each clerk or store owner told me the same thing; “I haven’t any idea when we will be getting a shipment in.”

I am 60-years old. I don’t recall ever in my lifetime that ammunition of every caliber was not available. How about you? And why is that?

There is another trend taking place that smart people have probably already noticed and blind and brainwashed people wouldn’t even want to see if they could.

While I was out, like I always do when I go into a grocery store, department store, sporting goods store, flea market or yard sale, I looked for survival items and special deals on food stuff that can be put in my storage closet for survival. When there is a good deal, I buy it and take it home to add to my supply, including ammunition.

These common items, if you are a “survivalist” you know what they are, are beginning to show signs of shortages. I commonly see empty shelves where once there was an abundance. Why is that do you suppose?

This is not your father’s America, that is why!

While I was in Wal-Mart, I also roamed the aisles, after checking the ammo department, and grabbed a few items that were priced pretty good, threw them in my cart and headed for the checkout. Now, I am one who believes that NOTHING happens by random chance. Such was the case this morning. As I pushed my cart along the aisle looking for a line to get in, I was about to fall into the shortest of the long lines that had formed at each register. I glanced one more time around and standing in the middle of all this mess of people was a cashier looking directly at me and waving her arms and hands to come to her register because there was nobody there. I mean seriously. You should have been there and seen it. It was almost weird.

I waved back and scurried with my cart over to her register. We exchanged pleasantries and to be honest I did not think all that much about the oddity that with all the people, this lady had nobody in her line and singled me out. It was not until after what happened next that I realized this was not happenstance.

I’ll tell you exactly what I had in my cart: paper plates, 6 packages of Ramen noodles, a bulk package of macaroni and cheese and 2, 1-pound bags of black beans. I placed them on the counter.

Eventually the cashier asks of me, “Now, what are you doing with all these beans?”

I personally do not think that buying 2, 1-pound bags of black beans constitutes “all these beans,” but I went along with it. (She should see my closet.)

I replied, “I’m not sure you would believe me or even understand if I told you.”

She looked at me a bit puzzled and then I thought to myself that this was a great opportunity to tell her and if nothing more, catch a reaction or get her to thinking.

“I am buying much of this stuff just to add to my stockpile of survival food. This country and the world, for that matter are going to hell in a hand basket, and I plan on at least having some food and other supplies ahead of time for me and my family when food becomes short in supply,” I answered. “And, I need to be able to protect my property.”

She looked at me and winked and began telling me that her son, who lives in California, sends her money periodically with instructions to “stock up.” And then she says, “Well, I believe the Lord will take care of us.”

I answered back, “I believe that too. That is why He has opened my eyes and given me all the right things to read, research and learn about and why I am here today buying food to plan ahead. He’s taking care of me. This isn’t my idea!”

Also during our brief encounter, I shared that America is not the country of my father and not the one I grew up in and brought up the fact that their sporting goods department was void of ammunition to sell and that this was one of the indications that something was not right. People are scared and at perhaps no other time in American history have so many people felt so insecure and unsettled about their own future and that of this country.

As I am exchanging ideas and information with this woman, a middle-aged woman who was behind me in line, kept edging closer and closer in order to hear what we were saying. I finally looked directly in her eyes and she asked, “Are you serious about all this?”

“Very,” I replied. “But do I look worried about it? Get ready because I believe it is coming to this country soon.”

Leaving the store, it was obvious this entire event was not happenstance. I was put in that lady’s check out line deliberately and I was thankful that I had spoken up and shared what and when I did.

America has lost its identity. The corrupt leadership of this nation and around the globe is determined to convince us that what was my father’s America, is no longer any good. They have stopped production on that brand and we are being directed to buy something foreign made.

Get ready!…………………………….or laugh at me.
