We read in Genesis 1: ” 24 Moreover God said, Let the earth bring forth the living thing according to his kind, cattle, and that which creepeth, and the beast of the earth according to his kind, and it was so.
25 And God made the beast of the earth according to his kind, and the cattle according to his kind, and every creeping thing of the earth according to his kind: and God saw that it was good.
26 Furthermore God said, Let us make man in our image according to our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the heaven, and over the beasts, and over all the earth, and over everything that creepeth and moveth on the earth.” (emboldening added)
We also know that during the time of Job’s sorrows of trying to understand why Yehwah was testing him, Yehwah spoke to Job as to why Yehwah was Almighty and Job was but a man. He reminded Job of who created and controls the wild beasts of the field.
We find in Job 39: “9 It is I which have made the wilderness his house, and the salt places his dwellings.
10 He derideth the multitude of the city: he heareth not the cry of the driver.
11 He seeketh out the mountain for his pasture, and searcheth after every green thing.”(emboldening added)
Specifically in these verses, Yehwah is referencing the wild ass. He tells us that it is the wilderness where the wild beasts live, as appointed unto Yehwah and that the wild beasts “derideth the multitude of the city.” In other words, Yehwah causes the wild animals to stay away from the civilization of man.
However, in Leviticus we can learn that when man turns his back on Yehwah and sins against Him, He will control the animals to inflict punishment upon us if he so chooses – that is the result of our sin. Yehwah is constantly reminding us who is Almighty, and yet our eyes are blind to it.
Leviticus 26: “21 And if ye walk stubbornly against me, and will not obey me, I will then bring seven times more plagues upon you, according to your sins.
22 I will also send wild beasts upon you, which shall spoil you, and destroy your cattle, and make you few in number: so your highways shall be desolate.”
And in Psalm 8 we can read: “1 O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy Name in all the world! which hast set thy glory above the heavens.
2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength, because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.
3 When I behold thine heavens, even the works of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained,
4 What is man, say I, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man that thou visitest him?
5 For thou hast made him a little lower than God, and crowned him with glory and worship.
6 Thou hast made him to have dominion in the works of thine hands, thou hast put all things under his feet:
7 All sheep and oxen: yea, and the beasts of the field:
8 The fowls of the air, and the fish of the sea, and that which passeth through the paths of the seas.
9 O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy Name in all the world!
Yehwah created all the beasts of the field for their purposes and tells us he placed them in the wilderness, not in the cities and places where man lives. Because Yehwah is Almighty, and although in his Creation he places man above the existence of all beasts, only Yehwah decides what His wild beasts will do and where they will go.
When man, placing himself as a god-man, attempts to know better Yehwah’s intentions for wild beasts, it only perpetuates the disobedience against Yehwah. If all of man lived according to the will of Yehwah, none of these problems would exist.
How man of today has come to perceive the role of wild animals in our world can only be described as sinful. Sin is what has caused Yehwah to send the wild beasts to come out of their wilderness, while man insists on keeping them from it.
