W. Virginia Hunters Bag 1,613 Bears

The combined harvest of black bears from firearms and archery unofficially stands at 1,613. Firearms netted 1,041 and archers took 572. These numbers are 31% above last year but less than the record year of 2003. Officials say the numbers are within what was anticipated.
