Update on Death of Pittsfield Teen

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

I reported yesterday that Joshua Sawyer, 15 of Pittsfield, Maine had died from a gunshot wound on Sunday afternoon. The first report was that it was a hunting accident. Yesterday that story changed to say it was a homicide. No charges have been filed.

It appears that three boys, Sawyer, his younger brother, and an unidentified 14-year old, all with guns, were in a cornfield near Martin Stream Road in Norridgewock. The 14-year old somehow shot Sawyer in the neck with his gun, killing him instantly officials say.

Authorities would not confirm nor deny reports that the boys were “playing” with guns or that they were or were not under adult supervision. State police and the Maine Warden Service are still trying to put all the pieces together.
