Montana Guides and Outfitters Challenge Legality of Mountain Lion Hunting Regulation

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The Montana Guides and Outfitters Association is challenging a new hunting regulation on mountain lions that would limit how many permits are issued to non-resident hunters. The new regulation would limit that to ten percent of the total. The guides and outfitters are saying this would adversely affect their businesses.

The group is also contending that the Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Department did not follow the required proceedures in providing adequate opportunities for public comment before the ruling was made.

The Fish, Wildlife and Parks officials are saying that they followed all the rules in making this regulation.

The lawsuit is seeking to have the FWP ruling recinded and to allow for public comment on the proposal.
