Public Hearings on Draft Elk Management Plan for Rocky Mountain National Park

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The National Park Service is taking public comment until July 4th on a draft management plan for Elk in the Rocky Mountain National Park. The plan calls for 5 options, none of which involves opening the management up to hunters. The Park Service announced that its preferred method was going to be to arm park rangers with guns and silencers at night and go in and slaughter as many as 700 elk a year for several years.

If you are in the region, there are public meetings scheduled across the state, the first meeting being tonight in Boulder. There are other meetings scheduled for Loveland, Grand Lake and Estes Park.
