Kenai, Alaska Bear Hunt Canceled

A bear hunt scheduled to begin on October 15, 2006 on the Kenai Peninsula has been called off by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. Officials say 23 bears have already been killed in that region this summer by people protecting themselves or their property. Wildlife officials say that is too many, so they canceled the hunt.
