New Hampshire Preliminary Bear Hunting Totals

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The bear season for New Hampshire is all over. Reports, unofficial, shows a dramatic decrease in the number of bears harvested during 2006, down some 40% below the 5-year average. 205 males and 127 female bears were taken. The percent of decrease is not unlike those in neighboring Maine. Reasons given mostly are due to an abundance of feed for bears keeping them well hidden.

Reports flying out of Pennsylvania, which just began its annual bear hunt last week, also show numbers down from last years bumper crop.
