Think about that headline for a minute…or a week or two if you need that much time. Chances are if you don’t see any absurdity in it, then the headline is factual and Artificial Intelligence IS billions of times smarter than you already.
But there is hope for you. If you’re not a politician, who collectively don’t know whether they are punched or bored, you already have a leg up on them. But, don’t tell them that. They still think that they are light years ahead of the rest of the world.
But seriously….no, never mind about that.
What is artificial intelligence? According to the “Artificial Intelligence” that dominates this computer I’m writing on and the billions upon billions of bits of information available “for free” (wink-wink) on the Internet, A.I. is “intelligence demonstrated by machines, in contrast to the natural intelligence (NI) displayed by humans and other animals.”
Natural Intelligence? Natural Intelligence? Maybe you could stretch things a bit about conjuring up some half-baked scheme about animals having some sort of “natural” behavior, but please, animals don’t display intelligence…unless, like I’ve indicated, your one of those that think AI is smarter than a Red Neck, then all bets are off as to what you think about anything.
In addition, tell me the last man on earth that displayed “natural” intelligence. I thought so. Adam did until he ate the damned apple. Since then, what is on display now is nothing more than centuries of artificial intelligence crammed into brains…some in amounts greater than a bb in a boxcar.
If we compare the “brilliance” (wink-wink) of AI to that of an individual man, then perhaps a computer/machine could be billions of times smarter than a man…especially___________________(you fill in the blank).
Will these “machines” have the ability to create new intelligence or as some, like John Kerry likes to say, “Create new knowledge?” That idea can be a bit scary, but if these machines cannot do that, then they are only as good as the collective knowledge or intelligence that man puts in them. You should know the old, old (wink-wink again) adage about computers – garbage in garbage out. Perhaps the more modern phrase should become, garbage artificial intelligence in, garbage artificial intelligence out.
The worst part about AI is that it becomes so absolutely believable to the recipient. People actually sit around now with such weak, uncreative minds, asking Alexa questions. Whatever Alexa says must be factual…right?
We are being prepped for the new AI World…Big Brother…Al…Alexa…In that preparation, we are being propagandized with media reports like: “A.I. will be ‘billions of times’ smarter than humans and man needs to merge with it, expert says.”
And I ask you, does this further support my perceived insanity that “Be Vewy, Vewy, Scared,” and “We’re all gonna die?”
