Here’s the link to an interesting piece of work about “Feminist Narcissism.” Of course, most will not read it because they are immediately put off, or offended, by the title itself, which is all the more reason why they should read the article. Others may get to click on the link and then delete it because they think it is about appointing another Supreme Court justice. There is something to learn here.
The basic construct of this article is, in my opinion, true. The society in which we live in, that with each passing day it appears fewer and fewer people like it much, is what WE have created. Nobody else. If for no other reason our own selfish desires and complacency have allowed for its birth and growth over time – an uncontrolled serpent.
I recall as a teenager growing up in the early 60s and 70s hearing our parents warn of what the future would hold if things continued in the apparent direction we were headed. Things did continue in that direction and here we are. And yet what we have created we don’t seem to like very much even if we are incapable of even comprehending any of it.
I was also taught at a very young age that in order to like other people you first have to like yourself. Evidently, many of us don’t like ourselves very much. You can’t live a disciplined, moral, decent, loving life if there is no discipline, morality, decency, and love in your own life. It is that simple.
As a society, we live sexually promiscuously and yet expect not to suffer the consequences of such a lifestyle – it’s the old adage of reaping what you sew. What further proof is needed than when the leader of this country states that having oral sex with a woman is not considered as having sex. The message is loud and clear. The consequences not so much and yet here we are.
To understand why nothing can be said any longer without offending somebody, we first have to understand ourselves – what we have been taught and by whom. However, an unwillingness to recognize there is a problem prohibits any solutions.
Earlier this morning I was telling a friend of an experience I had once while conversing with a younger woman about seeking truth and the knowledge that only comes from our Creator. I was explaining the freedom that goes with this but that also holding these truths through the Spirit of Truth allows us to see things in Yehwah’s (God) eyes and not those of this world (Satan’s).
Her response pretty much tells us the story of where we are and why there is little hope without the guidance of our Heavenly Father. She said (and I’m paraphrasing), “Oh, my! That sounds scary. I don’t think I want to know those things. I might not like it. I think I’m happy just to keep things the way they are.”
And here we are. Keeping things the way they are doesn’t imply nothing is changing. On the contrary. Things are changing at breakneck speed. It is all part of God’s will…His plan. At some point in our lives, we will have to make the biggest decision ever to confront us. God said that we cannot serve two gods. You cannot love man’s world and God at the same time. That will be the choice you will have to make and it’s coming quickly.
Our own willing blindness is what is preventing us from seeing that we are living the life we created for ourselves. Now we must pay the penalty.
